Certificate Program in Interaction Design

Our Mission:

Free You.

Because, when we educate you, you are going to achieve true freedom. After all that is the true purpose of education.

Why Choose US

Design, as most commonly understood as, is not just about following the standard design thinking process: Research, Ideate, Prototype, Test, & Iterate.

There are a lot of other skills that you have to pick up. Such as, thinking about the bigger picture, understanding constraints and using them to narrow down a problem space, thinking deeply about your design core, and the importance of iteration.

These are not skills that you just learn by sitting in a lecture. These are the skills that you learn by doing. By working on varied wicked problems. And by failing at them. And here, you are going to do just that.

What you will gain

According to the World Economic Form, the top three out of the top ten skills you will need in 2020 are, Complex Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. These are the things you will learn first. Building screens, the easier part, comes later. We are going to equip you with a plethora of techniques that will help you gain these skills as you work through the interaction design challenges.

Thinking skills

We won't teach you "what" to think. Because the what gets outdated by the time you graduate. Instead, we will teach you "how" to think. So that you can use it for your lifetime.

Well thought out projects

You are going to be working on a variety of complex interaction design projects. Every project is well thought out and designed to test and bring out certain skills out of a designer. Yes, you will fail. Yes, you will become better.

designer personality

Design is not just a profession that you do by the day. It's who you are. Most get into design because they are truly passionate about what they do. We will hone your designer personality and help you understand who you are as a designer.

Below are the three course being offered over a period of one year (three semesters.) Classes will take place over the weekends to facilitate working professionals to participate in the program. However, you should note that you will be required to spend at least 20 hours per week outside of class for doing your projects.

Foundations of ixd practice

There are two aspects to this course. One is thinking and the other is doing. You are going to learn how to think like an interaction designer. Such as, thinking about the bigger picture, thinking about the design core, thinking about unintended consequences and so on. Alongside you are going to learn the foundational craft of interaction design. To build paper prototypes and test them, interviewing users, affinity diagramming, storytelling and so on. You are going to learn all of this by working on five challenging design projects. You will be introduced to our very own interaction design framework. You will also be introduced to connections between interaction design and other disciplines such as Architecture, Graphic Design, Fashion Design and Instructional Design. By the end of this course, you would have also developed your own design process based on your understanding of the practice of Interaction Design.
